My exhibit at Camino Bakery in the heart of downtown Winston is now up and Camino is graciously hosting a Meet The Artist from 6-7 pm, pre-gallery hop this Friday, August 7th. There will be free, delicious mini-cupcakes (mocha with coffee icing and lemon with coconut icing, oh my!) to tempt you.
I created four new prints specifically for this exhibit and all eight mask prints in my Animal Mask/Quote series will be on display as well as available for purchase–for just $25 a piece, what a deal! Returning to this series has been a lot of fun and I’m contemplating continuing the theme, so stop by, say hi and give me your suggestions for which animals I should tackle next.
Meanwhile, up the mountain a bit: Elkin will also be celebrating their gallery hop this Friday. If you’re in the area, stop by and check out the Human/Nature exhibit at Smalltown Gallery, which includes three new larger-scale fabric prints of mine, as well as lovely work from Tory Casey, Robin Mangum and Tammy Sawyer.
I had such a wonderful time with these folks last week at the opening reception, the exhibit is lovely and the space is beautiful. Plus, there’s a delicious pizza place at the other end of the main Elkin drag and I can highly recommend the mushroom pizza with truffle oil, if you’re feeling peckish.
Here’s a bit more info about the Elkin gallery hop and a handy map:
Join us this Friday August 7th from 6-9 pm for the Elkin Gallery Crawl. Start out at the Foothills Arts Council at 6 for “Roots & Reflections” then from 7-9 check out “Human/Nature” at Smalltown Gallery & “Overflow” at the Elkin Artisan Market. In the lot next to the EAM you’ll find local art vendors and food by Heaven Scent. Wine of course will be available at all stops.
Classes this month: I’m teaching a 1-day screen printing workshop at Sawtooth on Saturday, August 22. We’ll be exploring several screenwriting methods and you’ll leave the class with at least three prints of your very own work. It’s a lot of messy, good fun and we’d love to have you play with us so sign up today!
I hope you all have a beautiful August. Let’s enjoy these last few days of summer as much as we can! I’ll be working on the basement studio construction and possibly designing a t-shirt for Camino’s artist series this month. Lots of fun things on my to-do list, it’s shaping up to be a lovely month.
