I dropped off over 200 Hankie Pankie Art Hankies at Artists in Cellophane HQ yesterday. They should be making their way to Art-o-mat®s around the country very soon (more about the series below). In other news, I’m working on a last minute exhibit at Fahrenheit Kollectiv Salon in Greensboro for September (the opening will be Sept. 7th, stay tuned for more details) and a show at The Green Bean this November. Plus, more Art-o-mat® art, new tea towels and stealing a little time to make some mail art.
This edition of HankiePankie is called “Follow Your Bliss-ters” and was inspired by one of my favorite thoughts from Joseph Campbell.
His philosophy is often summarized by his phrase: “Follow your bliss.” During his later years, when some students took him to be encouraging hedonism, Campbell is reported to have grumbled, “I should have said, ‘Follow your blisters.'” (via Wikipedia)
This series features four different prints created around the idea that while doing what you love is the best path toward happiness, it will require blood, sweat, tears and blisters. I really enjoyed working on it. You can see some other posts about the series here and here.
